While small systems can get by using CF cards alone, most practical configurations will need one or more disks. Initially, a properly configured main board node will be used for this function. Replacing that with the design described below will allow large cost reductions in the second phase of the project.

This card is based on the Spartan IIE 200 and includes the following:

  • ATA interface
  • Flash memory soldered on the board (for FPGA programming and system software)
  • SDRAM soldered on the board
  • two o network interfaces
  • local power generation
