mechanical specifications

Each module has its own aluminum case. The case includes a "sleeve" covering most of the module plus a front plate and a back plate.

All modules are (when standing side by side as books on a bookshelf) 16cm (6.3") tall and can have one of two lengths:

  • 12cm (4.7") for type 3 modules can include a 3.5" device such as a hard drive

  • 20cm (7.9") for type 5 modules can include a 5.25" device such as a DVD drive

The type indicated above is followed by a letter to indicate the width of the module: A for 1.5cm (0.6"), B for 3cm (1.2") and C for 6cm (2.4").

A module can be latched onto its neighbor to make the system as a whole easier to handle.

Each module has two power connectors and two o network connectors. A short cable can link the power connectors to the neighbors (if one of the modules in the system is a Power Module) or a longer cable can link one of the connectors to a wall transformer.
